** At least in new buildings, there should be 2 kW "guaranteed" power per flat available: [https://www.elektropraktiker.de/ep-2009-10-768-768.pdf?eID=tx_nawsecuredl&falId=8833&hash=9031945b288c07368340fd687c8e9522] [https://fecher-elektrotechnik.de/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/DIN_18015-1_2007.pdf]. This is enough for one typical heat fan running at max power, but it is better to avoid using other large consumers (dishwasher/microwave/washing machine) at the same time.

This page collects discussion on practical heating / energy saving advice, including controversial issues.

Heating by electricity[edit | edit source]

  • Generally, generation of electricity has only 30-50% efficiency.
  • However, using electrical device on well-defined time slices can be more efficient than heating an entire room.

Shall I use an electrical radiator / convector?[edit | edit source]

  • Local electric heating (e.g. heatfans) can be used to quickly warm up the space you are currently in. This can be more efficient than maintaining comfortable temperature in every room most of the time, and hence save gas and money.
  • Blackout due to heat fans? Rather unlikely:
