Positioning

This wiki collects information about an energy embargo to stop the Russian invasion of Ukraine. This wiki is generally pro-embargo, but it also collects argumentation *against* the embargo if it brings awareness and/or understanding of counter-positions and hence carries the overall debate further.

  • Reasons to support an embargo include that it is an effective and comparatively peaceful means of exercising pressure and showing own determination and resilience.
    • If one supports additional weapon deliveries / military support, then the embargo is one of the means that should be used (paying an aggressor while fighting it is contradictory);
    • if one is against weapons deliveries then the embargo is one of the few available means of coercion at all.
    • That is, this site focuses on getting a good documentation on what is being said / researched on the embargo topic and welcomes contributions regardless of your position on (e.g.) weapons.
  • This site focuses on energy embargo as likely most efficient measure, but side-topics (such as embargo on metals, fertilizers etc) are possible.
  • This site does not advocate embargo on essential medical supplies, where people depend on them.
